Queen's Green Canopy

On Friday 25th March, seven rowan trees were planted on Tayne Field as part of the Queen's Green Canopy initiative, organised by the Lyminge Parish Council with support from the Lyminge Association, Lyminge Gardener's Society, Lyminge Cantores, Lyminge Historical Society and Lyminge Climate Action.
Rowan is a small native tree that has white flowers in spring and beautiful red berries in the autumn, as as such is great for bees, birds and other local wildlife.
According to the Woodland Trust, "bane of witches, diviner of the future and producer of jam, rowan is an elegant tree with a mystical history. Its leaves and berries are a favourite for wildlife in woods and towns alike."
